Great Ayton Tennis Club is always looking to encourage rusty racquets and particularly those with young families who might be looking for a club that can provide whatever standard of tennis they aspire to.
Adult, Junior and Family Coaching
We can introduce new and existing members to qualified coaches giving you a wonderful opportunity to develop and flourish in tennis by offering 1 : 1 individual coaching for adults and juniors, or group coaching sessions for beginners to advanced players all according to your ability and requirements.
Both Jen Barron and Mark Barras have helped our club to healthy record coaching levels; 50 percent higher on hours basis with all sessions available throughout the week. (Jen is now the Team captain for the County Under 12’s Girls). Thanks to both these coaches for their on-going support.
Jennifer is a Level 4 Accredited LTA coach who has worked across many clubs in the North-East and Yorkshire. In 2018 she spent a year in America coaching tennis in Northern California before returning to complete her Level 4. Jennifer has lots of experience working with juniors and adults, and has been involved with disability tennis for 4 years leading many of their initiatives. She is passionate about coaching and encourages everyone who is interested in learning to play to take part!
Walking Tennis & Wheelchair Tennis
Walking tennis is ideal for those who have never played the sport before and is also perfect for those with disabilities. Players are required to walk, not run and there are 2 bounces instead of 1. It’s low pressure and focuses on the social aspect of tennis where you can come along and play and meet like minded people.
The following information on disability tennis is taken from the Tennis Foundation website:
“Disability tennis is simply the general term we use to describe the various versions of tennis that are on offer for disabled people to have fun playing … The most well-known versions are deaf, learning disability, wheelchair and visually impaired tennis but the sport is adaptable to a wide range of disabilities”.
LTA Youth Start
LTA Youth Start is incredibly popular and a fantastic introduction and opportunity for kids into playing tennis.
N.B. Jen can also coach Juniors on any week night subject to availability.
Tots Tennis has proved very successful, with up to ten children in the session, who all enjoyed organised games to help with co-ordination and ball skills.
