Looking for a new and fun way to work out?
We hold two cardio tennis sessions a week at the Club on Thursday and Saturday mornings.
Gentle Cardio is available on Thursday mornings with Jennifer Barron from 10am until 11am. Jennifer is a Level 4 Accredited LTA coach who has worked across many clubs in the North-East and Yorkshire. Jennifer has lots of experience working with juniors and adults, and has been involved with disability tennis for 4 years leading many of their initiatives.
On Saturday mornings there is a more energetic cardio tennis session with Nic Weschenfelder from 9am until 10 am. Cardio Tennis is fun and sociable group fitness class set to music on our courts. A workout suitable for all ages and abilities and is for anyone who wants to get fit and have a go at tennis. The class moves along quickly, so no one will be judging your skills, and it doesn’t matter whether the ball goes in or out. Do I need to be fit? – No! Cardio Tennis is for anyone who wants to have fun getting fit.
Our Instructor, Nic Weschenfelder, will have you hitting lots of tennis balls during your class and you’ll have a great cardio workout at the same time!
What should I expect from Cardio tennis?
- Warm up – stretching, skills and drills to get your body warm
- Aerobic section – forehands, backhands, serves and volleys all mixed with a variety of fitness activities
- Tennis section – fun tennis games with team mates
- Cool down – time to recover and stretch
Do I need to be a Member?
No, Nic provides classes on a pay and play basis. But we hope you will get a taste for tennis and join and we have coaches if you want to learn more and increase your enjoyment and skills.
What else do I need to know?
Bring along your own racket if you have one, if not don’t worry as you can borrow one from the Club. Wear comfortable gym kit and non-marking tennis shoes. You’ll be working up a sweat, so don’t forget to bring a water bottle too! Take the empty bottle home with you as we don’t have a recycling collection.
