Organised activities

The Club Trustees organise a range of events, throughout the year, for the benefit of the membership and the community.  A summary of the events planned for 2019 are summarised here. This programme builds on those events that were most successful in 2018 also summarised here.

Senior Tournaments

Newhouse Trophy Tournament (Mixed Doubles)

Last year we adapted the Newhouse Trophy competition to a whistle style tournament. We are now holding Whistle tournaments regularly on social nights. This fun, quick paced tournament was very enjoyable. This year we are considering restoring the Newhouse Trophy to being an internal mixed tournament with matches between pairs arranged as convenient to them.

This tournament is open to all members.

Westerhouse Trophy Tournament (Mens Singles)

Sign up now for the Westerhouse Mens singles tournament.

Won last year by Matty Loving.

Jacqui Foster Trophy Tournament

The late Jacqui Foster was a much loved member at our club. She played regularly at club nights and for the ladies’ teams.

In her memory we hold an annual mixed tournament.

Junior Tournaments

The Club organises junior events under the LTAs “Tennis for Kids” programme. In the last 2 years we have organised Junior Quorn Tournaments and Junior Team Challenge events with our neighboring Clubs. Lee and Cameron won in 2018.

Social Activities

In 2018 successful social events included a wine and cheese party, Strawberry Tea, Ladies Cardio & Prosecco Day. Look out to see if these are repeated in 2019.

Our quizzes are open to members and non-members. Quiz nights take place at The Royal Oak, Great Ayton. Accompanied by pie and peas or Veggie option.

Keep an eye open for our next quiz !

Club Tennis with Afternoon Tea (and PIMMS!)

Strawberry Teas

Our annual BBQ will be held on Friday 13th July

Geoff from Petch’s butchers supplies all the meat.

Players provide salads and pud-dings.

It’s a great night. Bring your own drinks!

Tennis play starts from 6pm.

Guests are welcome.

Birthday Parties (Juniors only – so far)

Why not hold your birthday party down at the club? Bring your own food and party bags and use our facilities for a small fee. If the weather is good, bring rugs and turn the party into a picnic.

For a small extra charge, hire one of our coaches for a couple of hours to bring some special entertainment to the party. Weather permitting, parents can sit back, relax and watch the fun and games.
